How to install ionic and ionic 2

Ionic is the world’s most popular cross-platform mobile development technology. The Ionic framework provides the way for the creation of cross platform mobile applications with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The Ionic Framework uses Cordova and provides you with a UI framework that mimics the native UI. That means that you don’t have to worry about implementing a native-like UI and debugging all the quirks between web view implementations on different platforms. Ionic is built on top of Angular , a very popular framework (made by Google) for developing web applications.Today I am going to show you how to install Ionic framework on your system.

 

How to install ionic and ionic 2

You can follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have installed NodeJS latest version on your system. You can download latest version of NodeJS  Here.
  2. Open your terminal or Command prompt and install Cordova and Ionic. You can use following command for this:
     npm install -g cordova ionic 

    Or  if you are mac user then :
    sudo

     npm install -g cordova ionic 

If you have already installed Cardova and Ionic then you should always update them using this command :

  <code class="language-text" data-lang="text">npm update -g cordova ionic </code>

How to install  ionic 2 ?

You don’t need to install separate setup for Ionic 2 and Ionic 1. You just need to specify version of Ionic during creation of Ionic app just like this :

 ionic start myNewAPP --v2
